Just the smell of this tea gives you a preview of the flavour to come. I do like to add a bit of sugar, but no milk.
I fell in love with black current tea years ago, from a well known international brand (rhymes with "linings") that discontinued it, at least in Canada, a number of years ago. I then found a blend offered by an iconic Canadian tea purveyor (rhymes with burchies) located in Vancouver/Victoria that offered a pretty decent replacement. I stumbled upon the Vintage Fork quite by accident, and low and behold, black current tea was on the menu. I ordered a package, brewed a pot, and WOW! Of all the black current teas I've tried, this is by far the most flavourful one of the bunch. The black current really comes through, strong and true. The black tea itself is lovely, smooth, refreshing. I'm not a big fan of fruit flavoured black teas, but this one is an exception - perfect for an afternoon pick me up.
We grow black currants in the garden to make amazing jam, so we're already fans of the deep and rich flavour these berries provide...so, we were intrigued to see whether this tea stands up to the precedent. It DOES, in spades: I'd recommend it to anyone who appreciates beautiful black currant flavour! It fills a person with joy any old day (and it's superb if you have a cold or the sniffles).
